It was the dead of summer and of course the cattery had decided now was a good time to be holding their SPC judging. Tanahie opened her fifth bottle of water and glanced at her GPS. The shedu's panted in the back seat of the shedu car. The AC had broken in the shedu vehicle about six months ago, but it too cold to bother fixing it. Now it was the middle of June and Tanahie was regretting putting off repairs. The windows were open, but even the wind blowing into the car was hot. George let out a low yowl and dropped his head onto his paws.
"I know buddy," Tanahie said to the cat.
North raised her head to look at Tanahie and she met the blue eyes of the female shedu. It was exciting to have these cats judged for their SPC's. They were both talented cats that Tanahie looked forward to seeing many litters out of. Hopefully their SPC rating reflected Tanahie's opinion. Her GPS beeped at her, alerting her that they had arrived at the cattery holding SPC's. People were parking and unloading cats and items everywhere. Tanahie carefully made her way through the parking lot and secured them a slot in the far corner of the parking lot. There were beautiful cats everywhere. George and North pushed into sitting positions to look out the window. George stuck his nose to the cracked window and sniffed before letting out a small gurgling noise. Tanahie shook her head as she watched the cats.
"Alright everyone," she told them, "let's go."
She slid out of the car and opened the back door of the car. North jumped out gracefully and Tanahie grabbed her leash before the cat could wander off. George on the other had laid down on the back seat and rolled onto his back watching Tanahie upside down.
"Come on you goof," she told him giving his leash a little tug.
The big cat didn't move. Tanahie tugged again and the shedu just lay limp.
"I will drag you out of the car if you don't come," she told him.
He just regarded her with his grey eyes.
"Fine," Tanahie said and put pressure on his leash.
Slowly the big cat was dragged across the leather seats toward the open door. He lay limp and just let her pull him. When he got to the edge of the seat he flicked an ear but Tanahie just kept pulling. She pulled him off the seat and watched as he went from lying limp to rotating in the air to land on his feet with a fluff of dirt.
    "Show off," she told him.
She checked in to the office and let them know she had arrived with both cats in tow. The man at the desk let her know that all the korung and liberty would be held in the evening. She took a schedule and found her room. She had time to just hang out until this evening. She collapsed onto the plush couch and sighed in the cool of the air conditioning. Most of the day was spent like that with a couple trips to let the cats stretch their legs and relieve themselves. By the time evening rolled around all three of them were restless and wanted something to do. Tanahie checked the time and decided she could start to get the cats ready for their korung. Once she had something to do the minutes ticked by quickly.
The location of this cattery was very interesting. It lay atop a mountain, or the remnants of it at least. The mountain had been cut into to make way for the city below. So now the cattery overlooked the city below it. It was a sharp contrast between the green lawn of the cattery and the sharp lines of the city. The whole area was surrounded by a fence to prevent the cats from accidentally going over the cliff into the city below. The sun had just began to set as Tanahie and the cats checked in to the korung arena. Cats milled to and fro with their owners. Handlers were called and cats were brought before the panel of judges who examined the cats conformation and movement. The judges would all mutter to each other for a while before going quiet and moving on to the next cat.
The sun dropped lower on the horizon and Tanahie kept the cats moving as she waited to be called. The sky had turned a pinkish purple when George was called to the korung arena. Tanahie led the cat into the arena and stopped him in front of the panel of judges. They examined George's conformation before asking her to take the cat in a lap around the immediate arena. She walked George forward and watched as the cat moved like smooth water beside her. She bumped him up to a gliding trot before bringing him back down to a walk. The cat moved so gracefully and she marveled at the fluidity of each step. She brought the big cat to a halt in front of the judges once more and he glanced up at her as they waited. His blue grey eyes stared deep into her own eyes. The judges broke the moment with the dismissal of George. She led the big shedu out of the arena  before slipping him a cat treat for his good behavior.
